G'nas

India

Most likely the G'nas are early pre-Aryan goddesses who were strongly embedded in the aboriginal tradition of India. Even the classical Aryan texts such as Rig- and Yayur Vedas mention these deities. As a group, the G'nas represent the creative force of the earth and are associated with the fertility of both humanity and vegetation.

Among their members are a number of Hindu and Tantric deities discussed elsewhere: Agnayi, Asvini (also an Apsaras), Bharati, Dhisana, Indrani (also a Flesh-Eating Goddess), Rodasi, Sarasvati, Vac and Varunani.
